Our Story

Why We Started NRNS

Founded by community members who refused to let financial barriers stand between people and the mental health care they need.

The Beginning

A Community That Refused to Look Away

In 2022, a group of invested community members in the western suburbs of Chicago saw something they couldn't ignore: people in their neighborhoods were losing access to mental health care — not because treatment wasn't working, but because they simply couldn't afford it.

Co-pays piling up. Deductibles too high to meet. Insurance gaps that left people choosing between therapy and groceries. The result? People dropped out of care right when they needed it most.

The No Retreat No Surrender Foundation was born from a simple belief: no one should have to give up on their mental health because of money.

Our Mission
"To provide financial assistance for mental health care, ensuring clients can continue accessing quality support regardless of their financial situation."
What We Do

Three Ways We Help

Financial Assistance

We cover co-pays and deductibles, paying clinicians directly so the financial barrier is removed immediately. No paperwork for the client, no delay in care.

Professional Funding

We invest in expanding provider capacity by funding therapeutic group sessions, enabling clinicians to serve more people at lower cost.

Educational Speakers

We bring nationally recognized speakers to schools and community organizations — at no cost to attendees — to educate on mental health topics.

Therapeutic Groups

Community Healing, Together

We fund specialized therapeutic group sessions that provide professional support in a community setting — making quality care accessible to more people at a lower cost.

Women in Transition

A group for women navigating major life changes — divorce, career shifts, loss, or identity evolution — with professional therapeutic guidance.

Young Women Post-College

Supporting young women through the unique challenges of post-college life: career uncertainty, relationship changes, and building an identity beyond school.
